Portugal beat Uruguay 2-0 in its second group-stage match on Nov 28, confirming its place in the round of 16.

Portugal’s second straight victory in Group H makes it only the third team to have six points on the table, besides France and Brazil.

The Goals

Midfielder Bruno Fernandes scored both goals. The first goal in the 54th minute seemed to have been pushed through by Ronaldo with his head. But the replays showed that there was no contact.

The second goal was a penalty kick. Around the 89th minute, Uruguay defender Jose Gimenez used his arm to mitigate his fall, and the ball brushed his hand. The VAR awarded the penalty kick to Portugal, but experts widely debated the decision as possibly being unfair.

Uruguay still has a chance to reach the knockout stage, given they beat Ghana, and Portugal beat South Korea.
