The Supreme Court, on Nov 29, transferred YS Vivekananda Reddy’s murder trial from Andhra Pradesh to the CBI court in Hyderabad.
The apex court was acting on a petition by Sunitha Narreddy, daughter of the deceased, who raised concerns about a lack of a fair trial in Andhra Pradesh.
The petitioner’s apprehensions relating to conspiracy and destruction of evidence cannot be ruled out as not having any substance, the court said.
The court directed the CBI to complete its investigation at the earliest.
Former Member of Parliament and brother of late Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, YS Vivekananda Reddy, was murdered in March 2019.
