An emergence of television footage, which seems to corroborate the sexual assault allegations made by Tara Reade, a former aide of Joe Biden, against the presumptive presidential nominee of the Democratic party, has kicked off a political storm in the US.

The events date back to 1993 when Mr. Biden was a US Senator and Ms. Reade, one of his staffers.

Tara Reade alleges that Mr. Biden had pinned her against a wall and assaulted her, in Capitol Hill. The allegation of sexual assault was previously unknown until Ms. Reade revealed it to a journalist in April 2019.

What is the fresh Evidence?

While the allegations have been in discussion over the past couple of months, a news clip that has now surfaced, seems to add credence to the allegations.

In 1993, a woman who identified herself as a resident of San Luis Obispo, California, called CNN’s Larry King’s talk show and discussed the harassment faced by her daughter. Though not specific with the details, the caller spoke of the harassed woman (her daughter) having no choice but to go to the Press. The caller, now strongly believed to be Ms. Reade’s mother, Jeanette Altimus, added that the allegations didn’t reach the Press, out of the respect her daughter had for her former employer.

Donald Trump Junior, the eldest of President Trump’s children, wondered how CNN failed to recover the news clip until now.
