Sanjush, son of Jana Sena Party Rajya Sabha MP Lingamaneni Ramesh from Andhra Pradesh, was identified as the driver of a luxury Aston Martin (registration TG-09-G-0666) that struck Bharati Mukhi outside Inorbit Mall around 3 PM on August 16.

Preliminary alcohol and drug tests on 21-year-old Lingamaneni Sanjush have returned negative following a fatal road accident in Madhapur that claimed the life of a 26-year-old woman last week, police said, as forensic reports and further inquiries continue.

Ms. Mukhi, a sales executive at the Lifestyle store inside the mall, sustained severe head injuries. She was taken to Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills in the same vehicle and was declared dead on arrival. According to police accounts and the FIR, Ms. Mukhi and her colleague Ms. Pooja Ashok had gone toward the nearby ITC Kohenur area to collect meals.

While returning and crossing the road in front of the mall, the car, allegedly travelling at high speed and in a rash and negligent manner, hit Ms. Mukhi.

Madhapur police registered Crime No. 1238/2026 under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with causing death by a rash or negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide. The maximum punishment under the provision is up to five years’ imprisonment and a fine.

Investigators apprehended Mr. Sanjush the same day. He underwent preliminary drunk-driving and drug tests, both of which were negative. Blood samples were sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for detailed analysis, and the Aston Martin was seized.

A Motor Vehicle Inspector’s examination of the vehicle has been completed, with the report awaited along with the post-mortem findings. Because the offence is bailable and carries a sentence of less than seven years, police did not arrest Sanjush. They served him a notice under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and granted station bail.

Cyberabad police officials, including DCP Ritiraj, stated that an objective assessment of the material available at the time found no circumstances requiring immediate arrest, in line with relevant legal guidelines. Sanjush has been directed to cooperate with the probe.

Ms. Mukhi hailed from Bantali village in Mayurbhanj district, Odisha. She had been the sole breadwinner for her five-member family (parents and two brothers) for about four to five years after the COVID-19 lockdown disrupted her studies and a planned BTech admission. Her mother, Anandini Mukhi, and brother Rajanikant have expressed deep grief and appealed for justice and government assistance, noting that her earnings supported household expenses and her brothers’ education.

In statements, Mr. Sanjush has said he did not flee the scene, immediately shifted Ms. Mukhi to hospital for medical help, and later reported to police. He offered assistance to the victim’s family. His father, MP Lingamaneni Ramesh, issued a statement expressing heartfelt condolences, describing the incident as deeply unfortunate, and affirming that his son is fully cooperating. MP Ramesh said Sanjush took the injured woman to hospital without delay, that medical tests returned negative, that nothing is being concealed, and that the family will extend every possible support to Mukhi’s relatives while urging the public to allow the investigation to establish the facts without speculation.

Police confirmed the vehicle inspection and forensic processes are ongoing. Further action will depend on the FSL results, MVI report, post-mortem findings, and other evidence gathered. The case remains under investigation by Madhapur police under the Cyberabad Commissionerate.
