YSRCP registers a comfortable victory in Badvel

YSRCP candidate Dasari Sudha won the Badvel assembly constituency bypoll rather comfortably with a 90,533 majority over her nearest candidate Panathala Suresh of BJP.

Of the total 1,47,163 votes polled, Mrs. Sudha secured 1,12,211 votes, and Suresh received 21,678 votes. Congress candidate Kamalamma got 6235 votes.

NOTA (None of the above) received 3650 votes.

Chief Minister YS Jagan likened the huge mandate to people’s blessings and vowed to provide even better administration.

The demise of YSRCP MLA Venkatasubbiah necessitated the Badvel by-election. Since YSRCP fielded the late MLA’s wife Dasari Sudha, TDP and Jana Sena did not field their candidates.

Badvel is a SC reserved constituency.

BJP AP Incharge Sunil Deodhar pointed out the difference between their vote count in 2019 and now and called it a milestone in BJP’s growth trajectory. However, Political analysts were quick to point out that the increased vote count could be owing to the sympathizers of the TDP and Jana Sena party.

YSRCP leader Vijayasai Reddy called the victory a preview of the 2024 general elections.
