Who fared how in the by-elections? Let’s see

The by-polls for three parliamentary and thirty assembly constituencies were held on October 30.

The BJP and Congress party have both congratulated their cadre for specific electoral gains, whereas TMC won all the four assembly seats in West Bengal.

Let us see who fared how in the Assembly Constituencies.

Andhra Pradesh

YSRCP wins with a thumping majority

Badvel (SC) – YSRCP retained the Assembly constituency of Badvel. Dasari Sudha, the spouse of deceased MLA Venkatasubbiah, won with a huge majority. Her nearest rival, Panathala Suresh, lost his deposit. TDP and Jana Sena did not contest the poll.

Assam

BJP and its ally UPPL win all five seats in the Assam Bypolls.

Bhabanipur – Phanidhar Talukdar of BJP secured a comfortable victory. He secured 64,200 votes, while his nearest contender Sailendra Nath Das of Congress, took 38,559.

Gossaigaon – Jiron Basumatary of United People’s Party Liberal received 58769 votes, while nearest contender Jowel Tutu of Congress polled 30,517 votes.

Mariani – Rupjyoti Kurmi of BJP polled 55,489 votes leaving INC (Congress) candidate Luhit Konwar far behind. Congress was able to secure 15,385 votes.

Tamulpur – Jolen Daimary of United People’s Party Liberal received 86,678 votes, while Congress votes did not get into five figures. Independent candidate Ganesh Kachary got 29,619 votes.

Thowra – Sushanta Borgohain got 54,956 votes. Dhaijya Konwar, an independent candidate, received 24,395 votes. Here too, Congress votes did not get into five figures.

Bihar

JD (U) wins both the constituencies by a narrow margin

Kusheshwar Asthan – Aman Bhushan Hajari of Janata Dal (United) polled 59,887 votes, while the nearest candidate Ganesh Bharti of Rashtriya Janata Dal received 47,192 votes.

Tarapur – Rajeev Kumar Singh of JD (U) secured 79,090 votes and beat the nearest candidate Arun Kumar of RJD. Arun Kumar received 75,238 votes.

Haryana

INLD wins the lone seat with a narrow margin

Ellenabad – Abhay Singh Chautala of INLD (Indian National Lok Dal) secured 65,992 votes defeating BJP’s Gobind Kanda. Gobind received 59,253 votes.

Himachal Pradesh

Congress sweeps all three constituencies

Arki – Congress party’s Sanjay wins Arki Assembly constituency by a margin of 3,219 votes. BJP’s Rattan Singh Pal Singh received 27,579 votes, falling short of Sanjay’s 30,798 votes.

Fatehpur – Bhawani Singh Pathania of Congress wins. He secured 24,449 votes, and his nearest candidate Baldev Thakur received 18,660 votes.

Jubbal-Kotkhai – Rohit Thakur of Congress defeated his nearest candidate Chetan Singh Bragta. The former secured 29,955 votes, and the latter got 23,662 votes.

Karnataka

Congress and BJP take one each

Hangal – Mane Shrinivas of Congress defeats his nearest candidate Shivaraj Sharanappa Sajjanar of BJP by a margin of 7373 votes. Mr. Shrinivas received 87,490 votes, while Mr. Shivaraj received 80,117.

Sindgi – Bhusanur Ramesh Balappa of BJP won. He received 93,865 votes, while his nearest candidate Ashok Mallappa Managuli of Congress got 62,680 votes

Madhya Pradesh

BJP takes two, Congress takes one

Jobat – Sulochana Rawat of BJP won. She secured 68,949 votes. Her nearest candidate Mahesh Rawat received 62,845 votes.

Prithvipur – Doctor Shishupal Yadav of BJP received 82,428 votes, while his nearest candidate Nitendra Singh Rathore of Congress took 66986 votes.

Raigaon – Kalpana Varma of Congress won. She got 72,989 votes, while her nearest candidate Pratima Bagari of BJP got 60,699 votes.

Maharashtra

Deglur (SC) – Antapurkar Jitesh Raosaheb of Congress won the seat. The Congress leader picked up 1,08,840 votes, while his nearest candidate Sabne Subhash Pirajirao received 66,907 votes.

Meghalaya

Mawphlang – Eugeneson Lyngdoh of the United Democratic Party won. The UDP got 13,285 votes, and the nearest contender Kennedy Cornelius of Congress secured 8884 votes.

Mawryngkneng – Pyniaid Sing Syiem of the National People’s party won by defeating the nearest candidate of Congress Highlander Kharmalki by 1816 votes. The former got 14,177 votes, the latter picked up 12,361 votes.

Rajabala – Md. Abdus Saleh of National People’s Party picked up 11,812 votes, winning the constituency. NPP’s nearest candidate was Hashina Yasmin Mondal of the INC who polled 9897 votes.

Mizoram

Mizo National Front wins

Tuirial – K. Laldawngliana of Mizo National Front scored a victory in the constituency. The MNF candidate got 5820 votes, defeating the nearest candidate Laltlanmawia of Zoram People’s Movement. The ZPM polled 4536 votes.

Rajasthan

Congress scores two out of two

Dhariawad – Congress Candidate Nagraj received 69,819 votes. The nearest candidate Thawarchand picked up more votes than the BJP. Thawarchand secured 51,094 votes. BJP’s Khet Singh got 46,487 votes.

Vallabhnagar – Preeti Gajendra Singh Shaktawat of Congress won the seat. She received 65,713 votes, while her nearest candidate Rashtriya Loktantrik Party’s Udailal Dangi secured 45,107 votes.

Telangana

BJP stuns TRS

Huzurabad – BJP handed a major defeat to the ruling TRS Party. Former Minister Eatala Rajender won by a margin of around 24,000 votes.

West Bengal

TMC won all the four constituencies

Dinhata – Udayan Guha of TMC secured 1,89,575 votes. No other party reached six digits.

Gosaba – Subrata Mondal of TMC picked up 1,61,474 votes. No other party reached six digits.

Khardaha – Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay got 1,14,086 votes. No other party is even close.

Santipur – Braja Kishor Goswami received 1,12,087 votes. Again, no other party is even close.

Parliament Constituencies

Dadra and Nagar Haveli & Daman and Diu

Dadra and Nagar Haveli – Shiv Sena’s Kalaben Delkar won.

Himachal Pradesh

Mandi – Pratibha Singh, wife of former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, won the MP seat for Congress.

Madhya Pradesh

Khandwa – Gyaneshwar Patil of BJP won the constituency.
