India records 30,941 new COVID-19 cases overnight

India reported 30,941 new cases of the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, along with 36,275 recoveries and 350 fatalities.

India’s Active caseload stands at 3,70,640.

With 2,10,040 cases, Kerala continues to account for more than half of the nation’s cases. Kerala is followed by Maharashtra, which currently reports 55,359 active cases.

While Kerala hopes for a turnaround with a night curfew and weekend lockdown, Maharashtra too is being firm with guidelines in the wake of festivals such as Dahi Handi.

The state is also aiming to administer the second jab and fully vaccinate its residents for protection against the virus.

The recommended minimum time gap between first and second doses in India is 84 days.

With the total recoveries at 3,19,59,680, the recovery rate is at 97.53 percent.

A total of 4,38,560 people have succumbed to the virus so far.
