India has administered a record 11.3 million (1.13 crore) doses of vaccine to its eligible population over the last 24 hours, as per the September 7 morning update from the Health Ministry. Over 8.2 million (82 lakh) of these jabs are first doses, and the remaining are second.

The advised minimum time gap between first and second doses of the vaccine is 84 days. This is why the fully vaccinated people only account for about 17-19 percent of the eligible population despite the accelerated vaccination program.

Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh has become the first state to administer at least one jab to all of its eligible population, earning heaps of praise from the Prime Minister.

The high-paced vaccination drive has taken the total doses given in the country so far to 699 million (69.9 Cr).

Uttar Pradesh made use of over 80 million vaccine doses, followed by Maharashtra at over 63 million, followed by Maharashtra and Gujarat at nearly 50 million doses each.

Kerala, the state with the highest coronavirus infections in the country at the moment, has so far made use of nearly 30 million doses.
