Despite the high numbers, the percentage of the fully vaccinated is still around 22-24 percent, owing to the mandatory wait period of 84 days between the first and second dose of the viral vector vaccines.

The single-shot Johnson and Johnson’s Janssen vaccine is not yet available, even though it is approved for emergency use in the country.

Of the 96.5 lakh vaccine doses given to the public in the last 24 hours, around 57 lakhs were first doses, and almost 40 lakhs were second.

The central government has released data to the effect that states are adequately supplied with the vaccines, and in some cases, even in surplus.

Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra made use of the most vaccines. The former is the most populous state in the country, and the latter is one of the most affected.
