Hospital Fire kills ten COVID-19 Patients in Ahmednagar

A massive fire broke out in the Intensive Care Unit of the Civil Hospital in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. The ICU on the ground floor of the hospital was allotted to the coronavirus patients.

Ten out of seventeen patients in the ICU have succumbed to the fire. The remaining seven are injured and getting treatment.

Ordering an inquiry into the incident, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray asked the health officials to ensure appropriate care for the injured.

The Prime Minister expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and hoped that those injured would have a speedy recovery.

Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh have also expressed their condolences.

The incident is believed to have been caused by a short circuit, but an inquiry is underway to ascertain.
