The court has directed the CID to file a counter.

Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu, was arrested by the state CID on September 10 in connection with alleged Skill Development scheme irregularities, which supposedly caused a loss of Rs 300 crore to the state exchequer. He is currently in judicial custody in Rajahmundry Central Jail.

Chandrababu Naidu’s lawyers argued that the case was politically motivated and that there is no evidence to support the allegations.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav have spoken against Chandrababu Naidu’s arrest.

As TDP leaders continued their protests in Andhra Pradesh, several IT employees in Hyderabad got together, held banners, and condemned the arrest.

More Charges

In addition to the skill development scam case, Mr. Naidu is also facing charges in the Amaravati capital city Inner Ring Road alignment violations case. He has been accused of causing a loss of over 6,000 crores to the state exchequer by approving an alignment for the ORR that was more expensive than other options.
