“Not only will a single Indian Muslim’s citizenship be revoked, but no one will even be able to touch them with a finger,” assured Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.

“Give us votes or don’t give us votes, but do not doubt our intentions,” said Mr. Singh, speaking at a rally in Mangaluru.

The defense minister, along with other BJP leaders, is on a mission to inform the populace, Muslims in particular, that the CAA or the proposed NPR is not intended to strip any Indian of their citizenship, and the fears are baseless.

In an earlier rally, speaking about the states that passed resolutions against the Citizenship amendment act (CAA), Mr. Rajnath Singh sought to remind them that it was Mahatma Gandhi who asked then Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru to confer citizenship on the persecuted religious minorities.
