Telugu Film Star Krishnam Raju passes away

Telugu movie star Uppalapati Venkata Krishnam Raju, popularly known as Krishnam Raju, passed away on September 11, 2022.

The veteran actor was taken to a private hospital in Hyderabad only a few hours earlier after complaining of sickness. He was 83.

One of the stalwarts of Telugu cinema, Krishnam Raju’s career has spanned over five decades and produced memorable performances.

Although he played characters with negative shade at the beginning of his career, Krishnam Raju quickly became an actor with a style of his own. His assertive performances earned him the title ‘Rebel Star’ among his fans.

His hit films include Katakatala Rudrayya, Rangoon Rowdy, Manavoori Pandavulu, Bhakta Kannappa, Bobbili Brahmanna, and Tandra Paparayudu.

Political life

Krishnam Raju has had a successful political career, representing Kakinada and Narasapuram in the Lok Sabha.

He served as a Central Minister from 2001 to 2004 and held the portfolios of Defense and External Affairs, among others.

Krishnam Raju’s nephew Prabhas has achieved fame across India with S.S. Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali 1’ and ‘Baahubali 2.’
