Sonia Gandhi questioned in the National Herald Case

Sonia Gandhi, on July 21, appeared before the Enforcement Directorate to answer questions about the National Herald case. Her son Rahul Gandhi has already been appearing before the ED about the same money laundering case.

The questioning lasted for around two hours, and Sonia Gandhi will appear before the ED again on July 25.

Based on a complaint by Subramanian Swamy, the case charges that companies were floated to acquire properties worth thousands of crores that belonged to the Associated Journals Limited, which owns the National Herald Newspaper.

Opposition alleges Political Vendetta

While the Congress MPs walked out of the Parliament session, more than ten political parties expressed solidarity with Congress. They issued a joint statement accusing the BJP government of resorting to political vengeance. Trinamool Congress was notably not a party to the opposition’s statement.
