Mr. Shoigu conveyed Russia’s concerns about the possible use of a ‘Dirty Bomb’ by Ukraine.

The Russian Minister said that Ukraine would then blame Russia for using a nuclear weapon in the war.

The Chief of Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Protection Troops, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, said that such a ‘Dirty Bomb’ constitutes a container with radioactive isotopes and explosive charge, and upon explosion, the container is destroyed, and the radioactive substance would be pulverized by a blast wave that produces radioactive contamination in large areas causing radiation morbidity.

He added that Ukraine already possesses the necessary radioactive materials and even the technology to execute the detonation of such a ‘Dirty Bomb.’

Ukraine and its allies refute the accusations

The Defense Ministries of the US, UK, and France rebutted the Russian allegations, calling them false, and rejected any pretext to escalate the war with Ukraine.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that it was possible that Russia was plotting such an attack and called on the world countries to respond.
