Priyanka and Rahul pay tributes to grandmother Indira Gandhi

Congress party leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra paid tributes to their grandmother Indira Gandhi on her 37th death anniversary.

The late Prime Minister was assassinated on October 31, 1984, by her bodyguards in the aftermath of ‘Operation Blue Star.’ She was cremated on November 3, near Raj Ghat, at an area now known as ‘Shakthi Sthal’ (The place of Power).

Priyanka shared a rare picture of her playing with Indira Gandhi.

She wrote that her grandmother’s life was a message to keep fighting for justice while walking an idealistic path.

Rahul Gandhi said his grandmother served the nation fearlessly until her last moment and called her life an example of ‘women power.’

Sonia Gandhi, along with her son Rahul, paid tributes at the Indira Gandhi Memorial. The memorial is the former residence of the late Prime Minister Indira.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his tributes.

Indira Gandhi, daughter of the nation’s first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru, is the only woman prime minister of the country to date.
