India vaccinates 50 percent of the eligible population with at least one dose

India has administered 6.8 million (68 Lakh) doses of the COVID-19 vaccine on August 26.

The steady acceleration in the vaccination drive resulted in 50 percent of the eligible population getting injected with at least one dose of either Covishield or Covaxin, or Sputnik V.

As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, a total of 610 million (61 Cr) doses of vaccines have been given so far.

The availability dates for Moderna or Johnson and Johnson (Janssen) are not known.

Given the advised time gap of 84 days between the first and second dose, the percentage of fully vaccinated (those who had received both doses) people still hovers well under 15 percent of the eligible population.
