India records 31,923 new cases of the coronavirus

On September 23, India reported 31,923 fresh cases of the Covid-19 and 31,990 recoveries from the virus.

The new cases took the overall active caseload to 3,01,640, the lowest for the last six months.

Kerala accounts for more than half of the total active cases, currently at 1,61,596. It is followed by Maharashtra with 43,544 active infections and Tamil Nadu with 17,027.

The recovery rate is 97.77 percent, the highest since March 2020, as 3,28,15,731 of those affected have recovered.

The country has lost 4,46,050 people to the pandemic so far, 282 of them in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra lost 48, and Kerala 142.

Meanwhile, the health ministry released ‘Post Covid Sequelae Modules’ to help healthcare professionals deal with the long-term effects of COVID-19.
