India can contribute to peace efforts, Modi tells Zelenskyy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for a cessation of hostilities between Russia and Ukraine when he spoke to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on October 4.

In a phone conversation with Ukraine’s leader, Mr. Modi conveyed India’s readiness to contribute to any peace efforts between Russia and Ukraine.

PM Modi said there could be no military solution to the conflict and advocated dialogue and diplomacy.

According to a press release, PM Modi reiterated the importance of respecting the UN charter, international law, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of all states.

The Prime Minister also emphasized the security of nuclear installations in Ukraine.

The Indian leader also told Russian President Vladimir Putin that this is not an era of war when he met him at the SCO meeting in Uzbekistan.
