India and Egypt to elevate bilateral relation to strategic partnership

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Egyptian President Abdelfattah Elsisi signed an agreement to elevate the bilateral relationship between the countries to a ‘Strategic Partnership.’

The leaders signed three MoUs in Agriculture, Archaeology, and Antiquities. They also discussed strengthening the relationship between the two countries, including trade & investment, defense and security, renewable energy, and cultural and people-to-people ties.

Meets the ‘India Unit’ in Egyptian Cabinet

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the India Unit in the Egyptian Cabinet earlier. This unit, established earlier this year after President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi visited India, aims to bolster bilateral relations between the two nations. Headed by Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly, the India Unit comprises various ministers and senior officials.

Both nations would further explore opportunities in trade, investment, renewable energy, IT, digital payments, pharma, and people-to-people ties.
