The social media platform Twitter erupted with congratulatory messages. The Prime Minister of Bhutan sent congratulations on the behalf of his country.

The government tweeted that India had achieved a world record by administering 2.5 Cr doses on September 17. On average, India had administered 26,000 doses of the vaccine per minute that day, it said.

Because of the mandatory wait period between the two doses of the vaccine, the percentage of the fully vaccinated hovers between 30-35 percent despite the high number of doses given.
