‘The Nanny’ actress Fran Drescher, President of the Actors Guild, announced the strike in LA on July 13, 2023, after negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers failed. The AMPTP represents studios and streaming giants like Disney and Netflix.

The AMPTP has said that they had offered a ‘historic rise in compensation and a proposal to protect the digital likenesses of the actors.

The Writers Guild has been on strike with similar demands for weeks now.

While the Directors Guild has reached an agreement with the Studios, the absence of Writers and Actors is likely to halt most TV and Film productions.
