Hyderabad Police arrested Goshamahal MLA Raja Singh under the Preventive Detention Act on August 25, 2022.
Mangalhat Police Station, where a rowdy sheet was open on the legislator, took him into custody.
The police said that the accused had posted a video on youtube on August 22 with references to Prophet Muhammad and intended to disrupt communal harmony.
As the police attempted to remove the content, the MLA expressed his intention of posting more videos of similar nature, the police statement said.
The police added that the MLA was facing 101 criminal cases and 18 communal cases since 2004.
Meanwhile, the MLA has maintained that Comedian Munawar Faruqui’s purported comments related to Hindu Gods have prompted his response.
