Indian team, which remained undefeated until the final, lost out on winning their third World Cup.

How the match unfolded

Australia displayed exceptional bowling and fielding to restrict Indian batsmen from scoring runs.

After Shubman Gill was dismissed in the fifth over, Rohit Sharma followed in the 10th over after being caught by Travis Head. The Indian captain scored 47 runs in 31 balls.

India’s run-scoring slowed after Shreyas Iyer got out in the 11th over.

From the 13th to 23rd overs of the match, Indian batsmen could not score a boundary.

Virat Kohli scored his fifth consecutive half-century before being bowled by Australian skipper Pat Cummins in the 29th over of the match.

Josh Hazlewood dismissed Ravindra Jadeja in the 36th over.

KL Rahul completed a half-century in 86 balls and was dismissed in the 42nd over by Mitchell Starc.

Shami and Bumrah were dismissed in the 44th and 45th overs.

Although Australia had lost three wickets by the time they scored 47, Travis Head’s century put them on the path to victory. Travis hit 14 fours and a six.

While Travis Head was the man of the match, Virat Kolhi won the Player of the Tournament.
