Speaking in Visakhapatnam, CM Jagan addressed the ever-growing problem of plastic pollution on land and in the seas.

Lamenting the plastic debris in the ocean, the Chief Minister pointed out that most oxygen is produced by plants in the sea.

Announces partnership for sustainable change

Mr. Jagan announced a tie-up with ‘Global Alliance for a Sustainable Planet’ and ‘Parley for the Oceans’ to find sustainable solutions to the problem.

The former organization identifies partners and fetches global finances for green transformation, and the latter works with major brands such as Mercedes and Adidas to design and produce products out of recycled plastic, he said.

The partnership could bring in two billion dollars in investment and 20,000 jobs in the next six years, the Chief Minister said.

Cyrill Gutsch, the CEO of ‘Parley for the Oceans’ was present at the event.

Mr. Jagan said the state would be plastic pollution-free by 2027.
