The court was hearing a petition challenging the DGP’s orders denying permission for the ‘Maha Padayatra.’

Maha Padayatra

Starting September 12, the farmers from the Amaravati region had planned to walk to Arasavilli to commemorate the thousand days of protests challenging the 3-Capital formula of the state government.

The farmers who maintain that they sacrificed their lands for the greater good have been demanding a single capital at Amaravati. The government counter-argues in the name of decentralization of development.

Court gives permission

The High Court directed that 600 persons can participate in the walk from 8 AM to 6 PM and must adhere to rules necessary for upholding law and order.
